Help us accelerate advocacy, education, and support services, focusing on the legalization of advance requests for MAID.

Dying With Dignity Canada (DWDC) is actively preparing for the release of Health Canada’s long-awaited report on advance requests for medical assistance in dying (MAID). While we don’t yet know what the report will contain, we do know it will be a key moment in the national conversation, and we need to be ready to respond.

With your financial support, we will:

• Educate the public: We are developing new resources and recently launched a national campaign to ensure people across Canada understand their end-of-life rights and options, especially around advance requests.
• Support individuals and families: Our team provides one-on-one guidance to people navigating MAID, Advance Care Planning, and related health care decisions. Often when there is major news or government action related to MAID, we see a spike in inquiries to our Support team. As a result, we are preparing now and scaling up our capacity to meet that need.
• Advocate for legislative progress: We are meeting with MPs, Cabinet Ministers, and senior staff to ensure that advance requests remain on the political agenda. In October, we will host a Hill Day in Ottawa to meet directly with as many policymakers as we can. We are also mobilizing supporters to speak directly to their elected representatives.
• Counter misinformation: We are seeing increased confusion and misrepresentation around MAID in public discourse. Your support helps us share accurate, compassionate information and research, and amplify the voices of clinicians, ethicists, and people with lived experience.
• Remain nimble and responsive: Whether the report opens new doors or presents new challenges, we need to be ready to act quickly. Your donation gives us the flexibility to do just that.
