As part of Dying With Dignity Canada’s “Regional Spotlight” webinar series, we will speak with Dr. Kim Wiebe and Lindsay Bacala about common misconceptions about the medical assistance in dying (MAID) process, general attitudes toward death and dying, and local resources to help navigate grief.  

Speakers:

Dr. Kim Wiebe, FRCPC, MPH, is the Medical Director of the Manitoba Medical Assistance in Dying team at Shared Health Services. Dr. Wiebe is a multi-specialized healthcare provider trained in internal medicine, critical care, addictions medicine and palliative care.

Lindsay Bacala, MSW, RSW is a Registered Social Worker and Psychosocial Program Specialist for the Manitoba Medical Assistance in Dying team. Lindsay started her work in Long-Term Care facilities supporting clients with dementia and their families. Aside from her work with the Manitoba Medical Assistance in Dying team, she also provides therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults in Winnipeg and First Nations’ communities.
