Manager, Volunteer Engagement and Chapter Development

Sara is a volunteer manager and engagement specialist with over 15 years of experience helping individuals use their unique skills to make a meaningful contribution to their corner of the world.

With a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, Sara began her career teaching ELL in France before pivoting to leadership roles in both the aviation and health not-for-profit spheres. Her most recent role with Hope Air involved supporting a team of passionate volunteers across the country – including client care, pilots, event teams, and virtual office roles. She takes great pride in designing programs that foster empathy and build awareness of our healthcare gaps in Canada, and enjoys celebrating the immense contribution of the thoughtful, generous folks who use their time and talents to give back to their community.

Sara was first introduced to Dying With Dignity Canada when two family members were navigating the MAID process. The support she received was full of compassion and she has remained grateful for the organization’s support programs and advocacy work ever since.

Outside of DWDC, you’ll probably find Sara cycling the trails around Toronto, listening to nerdy science podcasts, or cooking up homemade pasta in her tiny kitchen. Her latest project is learning to crochet, and attempting a (slightly wonky) blanket.
