Having been a doctor for over forty years now, Dr. Reiko Miyamoto, MD, has been involved in dementia medicine since 2006. As a director of the Dementia Disease Medical Center, she is engaged in dementia treatment and end-of-life care. In addition, she is the Director of the Hokkaido Branch of the Japan Society for Dying with Dignity where she is engaged in the promotion of and enlightenment activities for living wills. Since 2012, she has been searching for ideal end-of-life care methods for the elderly. She gives numerous lectures on dementia and end-of-life care annually to different audiences and is a returning guest expert on an afternoon television program, speaking to the concerns and issues surrounding dementia and end-of-life care. She also published a book on end-of-life care in 2015 and another book called “Dementia: Living with Dignity”, in 2018.
