Dr. Jessica Shaw is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Most of her assisted dying research focuses on the experiences of people who have been marginalized in Canadian society, such as homeless people, drug users, and prisoners. In 2021, she was contracted by the Government of Canada to produce a report on assisted dying in prisons. She has presented at over 70 national and international conferences, including as a keynote speaker at the Canadian Association of MAID Assessors and Providers annual conference twice and at “MAID at the Edge: International Research Roundtable” in Vancouver, British Columbia.
