DWDC statement on COVID-19

At Dying With Dignity Canada, the health and safety of our community is our priority. We recognize COVID-19’s impact on people across Canada and have made adjustments to our operations and programming to ensure we are following best practices for containment.

We have taken measures to ensure the safety of our volunteers, staff, and supporters. At this time, our entire team is working remotely in order to minimize the spread of the virus. We have also made the difficult decision to suspend our chapter events and witnessing program at this time due to concerns about transmission, particularly in environments with at-risk populations. We appreciate your understanding and patience while we navigate these changing conditions.

Across the country, healthcare providers are working at capacity and resources are limited. We are extremely grateful to those professionals for their continued dedication and care in these challenging circumstances. Additionally, we recognize and thank the MAID (medical assistance in dying) assessors and providers who are still protecting the right to end-of-life choice by providing care to patients despite the additional complications and barriers.

During these uncertain times, the Dying With Dying Canada team remains committed to helping you understand, access, and navigate your right to end-of-life choice. We continue to monitor the ongoing situation and how COVID-19’s spread is affecting access to MAID in Canada. Please visit our blog for details and the most up-to-date information. Thank you for your ongoing support, and please take care.
