It can be extremely stressful for individuals to contemplate their end-of-life options, let alone try to navigate an often confusing health care system. With the legalization of medical assistance in dying in June 2016, Canadians were granted another option at end of life — but confusion over interpreting the new law and understanding the process has led to unnecessary trauma and obstacles for people and their loved ones.
If you have specific questions about your personal end-of-life care options, we encourage you to contact your health care provider. If you do not have a health care provider, please contact Dying With Dignity Canada’s Support team by emailing [email protected] or calling us toll-free at 1-844-395-3640. Our Support team also provides patient navigation services if you encounter barriers to accessing your choice of a medically assisted death, or if you have general questions about the medical assistance in dying (MAID) process.
Where can I find more information about MAID in my community?
Along with our FAQ page on Canada’s assisted dying law, we’ve compiled a list of provincial and territorial assisted dying contacts to help you get started.
This page is being monitored and will be updated as information becomes available or changes.
