The Lethbridge Chapter has grown in leaps and bounds in just a few years. Cheryl Bradley, Susan Whishaw, Norma Boulton, Bev Potter and John Warren coordinate the work of the Lethbridge Chapter. In fall 2014, Dr. David Amies of Lethbridge joined DWD Canada’s Physicians Advisory Council.

In summer 2013 John Warren, then vice-president of DWD Canada, convened a gathering of about two dozen known and potential supporters living in and near Lethbridge to discuss what a group of thoughtful citizens could do change the laws around medically assisted dying. A small but energetic group of individuals volunteered to organize and participate in activities that would stimulate conversations locally on personal directives, choices for end of life care, ethics of medically assisted dying and the work of DWD Canada.  Little did we know when the chapter formed how rapidly the national conversation about medically assisted dying would evolve!

We have reached out to our community through information sessions, social gatherings, participation in public forums, displays at public events, letters to the editor, blog posts, rallies, conversations with elected representatives and distribution of the DWD Canada’s Voice for Choice newsletter. We could not accomplish all this without the support of staff at the national office.
