Bill C-14, which received Royal Assent in 2016, included a commitment to review the state of palliative care in Canada by a committee comprising members of both Houses of Parliament; Bill C-7, passed in March 2021, recommitted to that review. The Statutory Review of the Provisions of the Criminal Code Relating to Medical Assistance in Dying and their Application is currently underway.
