Your health care team: Community paramedics

On September 20, DWDC was joined by Amber Hultink and Heather Quinn to discuss how the emerging role of the Community Paramedic can support your health care needs and keep you connected within your community.

Heather Quinn graduated from Humber College in 1994 and became an Advanced Care Paramedic in 2000 with Halton Region Paramedic Services. She moved to Community Paramedicine when the Pandemic hit, by joining the mobile Covid-19 vaccination team. She has been with the Community Paramedic Program for two years, visiting vulnerable and at risk seniors in their homes to prevent hospitalization and ER visits. She spends her free time sailing competitively and mountain biking.

  • Amber Hultink is a Commander with the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service. Her current portfolio is Community Programs which includes the Community Paramedic program. Amber has been involved with Community Paramedicine since 2008 and is passionate about equitable access to patient centred care. In 2018/19, Amber was seconded to the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement as a Paramedic Improvement Lead to work on a pan-Canadian project to implement Paramedics Providing Palliative Care in seven (7) jurisdictions across Canada.
