Decisions that Count: Advance Care Planning and Personal Directives

Imagine you were unwell and unable to speak for yourself. Would your loved ones know what kind of health and personal care you would want?  

Advance Care Planning is the process of thinking about, talking about, and documenting your wishes for health care in the event of serious injury or illness.The name of the document varies from province to province, but in Alberta it is called a Personal Directive. All Albertans over the age of 18 should have a Personal Directive.  

On October 23 at 1:00 PM MSTAlexandra Kushliak from Alberta Health Services introduced Albertans to the concept of Advance Care Planning, Personal Directives and Goals of Care during a one-hour webinar.
