The Calgary Chapter of Dying With Dignity Canada Celebrates 3 Years of MAID being a legal choice in Canada
with featured speaker CEO Shanaaz Gokool
June 17, 2019 is the third anniversary of the passing of Bill C-14. Since 2016, more than 6,000 Canadians have died with medical assistance. But at least another third have failed to meet the eligibility requirements. There are many shortcomings with the legislation: limits to accessibility, loss of competency before provision, issues of forced transfers, and more.
- DWDC CEO Shanaaz Gokool will provide an update on both national and provincial issues.
- Paul Morck will share his family's story: his wife Barbara was denied medical assistance in dying due to fluctuating competency.
