About Us

Since 2014, the Ottawa Chapter of Dying With Dignity Canada has been offering workshops and presentations on preparing for future health care issues and end-of-life choices. The goal of these educational events is to encourage individuals and their loved ones to think about and express their wishes for health care and treatment at the end of life, including patient rights and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).  If you or your organization is interested in an educational event, please email ottawa@dyingwithdignity.ca.  If you are looking for an Independent Witness for your MAiD application form, please email witness@dyingwithdignity.ca.

Services Provided

  • Education through in-person and virtual events on end-of-life choice and patient rights
  • Education through in-person and virtual workshops on Advance Health Care Planning
  • Presentations on medical assistance in dying (MAID) and how to access it in Ottawa
  • Independent Witnessing for medical assistance in dying requests in Ottawa
  • Advocacy and media relations regarding MAID issues, including writing articles and placing them in local newspapers and contacting local MPs, Senators and MPPs
