Greater Toronto Area Chapter

Mary Anne Cecutti is a retired heath care consultant and Chair Emeritus of the Greater Toronto Area Chapter of Dying with Dignity Canada. She built the chapter with passionate, like-minded individuals, whose goal is to inform and educate the public and other stakeholders in our community on MAID and MAID-related topics, as well as advocating for improved access to MAID. She also is a volunteer independent witness for those seeking MAID and an Education Committee member.

Bruce Glawson has enjoyed a successful career in the television industry as a director, entrepreneur and executive producer. He was a founding director and co-chair of the registered national charity, It Gets Better Canada, empowering 2SLGBTQ+ youth. Bruce volunteered with DWDC after his 99-year-old mother chose MAID. He is forever grateful for her end-of-life choice and rights and that she was able to experience a death with dignity.

Harry has worked in the disability field his entire career and since leaving work has been volunteering in health equity with Unity Health Toronto, Ontario Health (Toronto Region) and Spectrum Healthcare. As a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and having a mobility disability and Type 1 diabetes, equity has always been a passion and what led him to become involved with the end-of-life options movement.

Since retiring from 40 years in private practice in psychology, Barbara has followed her interest in bereavement, grief and end of life options. In her volunteer work with Dying with Dignity, she has acted as a witness for those requesting Medical Assistance in Dying, is on the executive of the Toronto GTA chapter of DWDC, is a Resource person for ACP and EOL presentations, and works with individuals and small groups to create their Advance Care Plans.

Virginia is a retired senior researcher in health policy and patient safety at the University of Toronto and a recent member of the Education and Outreach committees of the Toronto Chapter of Dying with Dignity Canada. She has been a board member of the Cancer Quality Council of Ontario and the Toronto-York Victorian Order of Nurses. Her background in intensive care nursing has reinforced her commitment to the importance of education as critical to individuals and their families to make informed end-of-life decisions.

Wendy is retired from the pharmaceutical industry, having worked in sales, sales training, and marketing. She also established her own marketing consultancy company, partnering with companies to develop innovative educational programs to help make a difference.

A volunteer since her teenage years, Wendy began by working with individuals with special needs. Her volunteering activities have remained a thread throughout her life and career.

Now retired, Wendy has found her passion in end-of-life advocacy. A firm believer that every person deserves the right to choose at the end of their life. Wendy is committed to the mission of DWDC.   As Chair of the Outreach Team, she leads efforts to build relationships with organizations and community groups, connecting them with the Chapter’s educational programs to ensure that more people have access to the information they need to make informed decisions.
