The Voice Your Choice Campaign is off to a roaring start after its official launch at DWD Canada’s Toronto headquarters on Thursday night.
About 50 supporters showed up to learn more about the campaign and to raise their voice for fair access to physician assisted dying.
With DWD Canada’s offices located near the intersection of three federal ridings, the organization put out an all-party call for candidates from all three constituencies to attend the event. Carolyn Bennett, the Liberal incumbent for St. Paul’s, Kevin Farmer, the Green Party nominee for St. Paul’s, and Andrew Thomson, the NDP candidate for Eglinton-Lawrence were kind enough to participate. Each gave a five-or-so minute speech on their party's positions on choice in dying and answered questions from DWD Canada supporters.
A platform for our advocacy efforts moving forward, designed to channel our collective passion into lasting change. Over the next several weeks of the campaign, DWD Canada will be encouraging its supporters to participate in federal and provincial consultations on choice in dying, and to push to make physician assisted dying a front-and-centre election issue.
The first phase of Voice Your Choice will culminate on Nov. 4, with our second-annual National Day of Action.
