Dying is not a disease. It is the final stage of life, a natural, deeply personal, spiritual and social event. Most of us hope to die pain free, at home, surrounded by those we love. But planning for the process of dying is both awkward and scary, and most people avoid it.
Françoise Hébert, Ph.D., a member of the Board of Directors of Dying With Dignity Canada, will review the process of dying and outline steps that can be taken now to minimize confusion and crises at the end of life, She will provide statistics on dying, review personal rights, and detail the legal right to physician-assisted dying. She will explain why doctors die differently than the rest of us. And she will give you the facts that you need in order to start the conversation about dying with those that you love and care for.
