Medical Assistance in Dying: Opportunities and challenges in Ottawa- Ottawa- October 18th 2016

The panel will offer insights into the implementation of MAID (medical assistance in dying) in Ottawa. Topics will include the challenges faced by the medical community and individuals requesting MAID; the limitations current legislation places on access to MAID; and the opportunities to provide effective access to this end-of-life choice.

The panelists will respond to questions following their comments.

Speakers include:

Dr. Viren Naik- Professor of Anesthesiology, The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa

The Honourable Serge Joyal- Senate of Canada, Jurist and Constitutional Lawyer

Mike Kekewich- Ethicist, Department of Clinical and Organizational Ethics, The Ottawa Hospital
