Catherine Painvin received her M.D. at the University of Paris and her Master of Science degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McMaster University. A well-respected physician, Dr. Painvin also served as the Medical Director for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board for 20 years, where she managed a group of physicians and participated in more than 100 outreach activities across Ontario.
Dr. Painvin retired in 2016 at the same time as her husband, Dr. G. A. Painvin, a cardiac surgeon. Since retiring, she has become a member of the Advocacy Group of the Oakville Branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women and the University of Toronto’s research project on post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. She is also a volunteer for the St. John Oakville Dog Therapy Program.
