Dr. Brian Finnemore, MD, was born and bred in Saskatchewan, but raised in B.C. He graduated in medicine from UBC in 1957. The bulk of his medical practice has taken place in very rural areas of Newfoundland, Labrador, northern Ontario, Saskatchewan, B.C. and finally the central Arctic. He has long been active in the right to die movement and is currently one of the coordinators of the Salt Spring Island Chapter of Dying With Dignity.
I do not feel that religious bodies or governments should have the right to dictate how we spend our last days. We should all have the right to select conditions around our final days that are congruent with our personal belief systems and without fear of the consequences for our caregivers.
