Bereavement counselling

The Ottawa Chapter is in partnership with Bereaved Families of Ontario — Ottawa Region.

If you have experienced the loss of a loved one who chose a medically-assisted death, and feel you need support in your grief, we encourage you to contact Bereaved Families of Ontario — Ottawa Region.

Bereaved Families Ontario — Ottawa, is a volunteer-based charitable organization which provides services to support individuals who have experienced all kinds of loss, and offers a range of programs including peer support. The BFO Ottawa Chapter’s Board of Directors recognizes that a loss in the context of a medically assisted death may require a peer-support group and counselling specific to that experience and is currently considering the establishment of a sub-group specific to MAID, similar to sub-groups they currently have for loss of a child, loss as a result of suicide, and others.

As part of the leading Canadian non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of dying, protecting end-of-life rights, and helping Canadians avoid unwanted suffering, DWDC’s Ottawa chapter is pleased to partner with Bereaved Families of Ontario — Ottawa Region, in an effort to alleviate the suffering you are experiencing as you grieve the loss of a loved one who chose a medically assisted death.
